The twenty-sixth edition of the international BIS 2026 scientific conference took place on 10-12 June 2026 at the Prague University of Economics and Business. This year’s BIS conference, devoted to business information systems, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, focused on the theme: “From Hype to Impact: Turning AI into Real Business Value”.

During the opening session, participants of the BIS 2026 conference had the opportunity to attend a keynote lecture by Professor Claudia Loebbecke from the University of Cologne, where she heads the Department of Media and Technology Management. Her presentation focused on the growing impact of artificial intelligence on business, media and academia. The speaker discussed how AI is moving from being a breakthrough technology and a source of competitive advantage to becoming a standard element of modern organisations. Particular attention was given to changes in value creation processes, communication and knowledge production, as well as to strategies that support organisational resilience, adaptability and long-term competitiveness in the era of ubiquitous artificial intelligence.

Panel discussion during the BIS 2026 conference in PragueAn important part of the first day of the conference was a panel discussion featuring representatives of academia and business. The discussion addressed current challenges and opportunities related to the development of information systems, business digitalisation and the practical use of artificial intelligence in organisations. The panel was moderated by Krzysztof Węcel. The panellists included:

  • Claudia Loebbecke (University of Cologne),
  • Martin Ondas (BizMachine),
  • Tomáš Rosa (Raiffeisen Bank International AG and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague),
  • Adam Wójtowicz (Poznań University of Economics and Business, Department of Information Technology).
