How can we effectively combine the capabilities of artificial intelligence with human knowledge and experience? How can businesses manage autonomous AI systems and use them responsibly? These are among the questions that participants will explore at the 27th International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2027), which will take place on 23–25 June 2027 at the Poznań University of Economics and Business.

BIS is a well-established international academic conference dedicated to information systems that support modern organisations. For many years, it has provided a platform for researchers and business practitioners to exchange knowledge and experience, present the latest research findings, and discuss future directions in information technology.

The theme of BIS 2027 is “Orchestrating Human and Artificial Intelligence in Business”. The conference will explore how advances in AI are transforming the way businesses operate. As intelligent systems become increasingly capable, including autonomous AI agents that can plan and carry out complex tasks, they raise new questions about accountability, safety, and effective collaboration between humans and technology.

Particular attention will be given to approaches that combine human expertise with the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Topics will include multi-agent systems, large language models, intelligent business process management, data analytics, knowledge graphs, and digital twins. The conference will also address the social and organisational implications of AI adoption, including issues of trust, privacy, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.

BIS 2027 will provide an opportunity to explore artificial intelligence not only as a tool for automation but also as a technology that is reshaping decision-making, work organisation, and business management. The key challenge is no longer simply to adopt increasingly sophisticated technologies, but to develop effective forms of human–AI collaboration in which their respective strengths complement each other.
