The Evolution of Global Scientific Research on Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain

The article entitled “Exploring Research Trends in Blockchain and Crypto-Assets Using Various Sources” presents a comprehensive analysis of global research trends in the fields of blockchain technology and crypto-assets between 2015 and 2025. The study covers over 50,000 peer-reviewed scientific publications and more than 80,000 keywords, drawing on bibliographic data from the Scopus and OpenAlex databases. The applied natural language processing (NLP) methods enabled the automated analysis of article abstracts and keyword co-occurrences, allowing for the identification of major thematic clusters and the tracking of their evolution over time.

By integrating multiple data sources and advanced analytical approaches, a detailed, data-driven map of the blockchain research landscape was developed. The results highlight the dominant research themes, indicate emerging directions, and identify research gaps as well as potential areas for further investigation. The publication provides in-depth insight into the dynamics of this rapidly evolving field and may serve as a valuable resource for the academic community, policymakers, and institutions responsible for shaping innovation strategies.

The research results were presented at the KES 2025 conference. Authors of the publication: Dr. Piotr Stolarski, Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski.
